Prime Minister and Awami League President Sheikh Hasina paid a rich tributes to Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman over her party’s landslide victory in the Sunday’s 11th parliamentary elections in the country.
The Awami League president paid the tributes by placing wreaths at the portrait of Bangabandhu in front of Bangabandhu Memorial Museum at Dhanmondi in the capital on Tuesday morning (today).
Private TV station NEWS24, a sister concern of the Bangla daily Kalerkantho, has confirmed the news.
Flanked by senior Awami League leaders, Sheikh Hasina stood in solemn silence for some time as a mark of profound respect to the memory of Bangabandhu after placing the wreath.
The Awami League, the present ruling party in the country, is set to form the government for the third consecutive terms.
Out of 298 seats, the party has gained 259 while Jatiya Party bagged 20 seats and Jatiya Oikyafront only seven in the national polls.
Chief Election Commissioner KM Nurul Huda, however, yesterday said that there was an eighty percent voter turnout in the 11th national parliamentary elections
