Ferry services on Padma resume after eight hours

Services on the Shimulia-Kathalbari and Daulatdia-Paturia routes were halted for almost eight hours since 2:30am due to low visibility caused by dense fog.

BIWTC Shimulia terminal Manager Abdus Salam said ferries started to operate around 10:30am after the fog cleared.

Ferries through the Daulatdia-Paturia route resumed around the same time.

Daulatdia terminal’s Assistant Manager Abu Abdullah said services were called off around 4am. “Ferries started operating around 10.15am.”

The Daulatdia-Paturia and Shimulia-Kathalbari ferry routes connect the 21 southwestern districts with Dhaka. Heavy fog during winter often disrupts operations.
