The government has imposed a ban on the export of three categories of raw jute until further order.
The three categories are–Bangla Tosha Rejection (BTR), Uncut and Bangla White Rejection (BWR).
This decision was taken in a meeting of inter-ministerial jute affairs advisory committee on Thursday with state minister for textiles and jute Mirza Azam in the chair.
The ban has been imposed as per the section 13 of Jute Act-2017 and it will remain in force until further order, said a press release.
Export of other categories of jute will continue.
Textiles and jute secretary Faizur Rahman Chowdhury, additional secretaries Md Ashraf Ali and Gopal Krishna Bhattacharjee, BGMC chairman Mahmudur Rahman, director general of jute directorate Md Shamsul Alam, among others, attended the meeting.
