‘Robber’ killed in Narail ‘gunfight’


An alleged robber was killed in a reported gunfight with the members of police at Lohagara upazila of Narail district early Tuesday.

The identity of the deceased could not be known immediately.

Confirming the news, Lohagara Police Station Officer-in-Charge Prabir Kumar Biswas said: “Police conducted a drive after being tipped-off that a robber gang was preparing to rob in Kachubaria area of Lohagara upazila. Sensing the presence of law enforcers, robber gang opened fire on them, forcing the police to retaliate that triggered a gunfight.”

“Police rescued an unidentified bullet-injured from the spot and sent him to the nearest hospital where doctor declared him dead,” he added.

“During the drive, SI Mahfuzul Hasan, ASI Pralay Chakraborty, Constable Murad and Titu were injured. They have been admitted to Lohagara Health Complex,” OC further added.

Police claimed to have recovered a pistol, two rounds of bullet, two country-made weapons and a hammer from the spot.
